Full Mouth Reconstruction for Sonoma Patients

Implants, full arch, and restorative care planned as one.

A smile rebuilt one emergency at a time rarely holds together for long. If you have been patching cracked crowns, living with a loose denture, or passing on favorite dishes at Sonoma’s best tables, you already know piecemeal repairs only buy time, and each new problem tends to arrive faster than the last.

Encore Dental at Napa helps Sonoma patients replace that cycle with one coordinated plan. Our office on Beard Road, a short drive east through Carneros, has deep roots in restorative and prosthodontic care, and Dr. Kevin Cabugao, DDS, and Dr. Paul Belusko, DDS, bring that same focus to dental care for Sonoma patients who need their bite rebuilt from the foundation up.

What Full Mouth Reconstruction Involves

Full mouth reconstruction is a treatment plan, not a single procedure. It brings together several restorative treatments to rebuild the upper arch, the lower arch, or both, so your teeth, gums, and bite work together again. The goal is lasting function first, with a natural appearance built into every stage.

Tooth loss becomes more common with age. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports about 11% of adults aged 65 to 74 have lost all of their teeth, and the figure climbs to roughly 20% for adults 75 and older. Many more people fall somewhere in between, with several missing or failing teeth making chewing, speaking, and smiling harder than they should be.

Depending on your needs, your plan may combine several of the following treatments.

  • Dental implants: small posts replace missing tooth roots and anchor crowns, bridges, or a full arch.
  • Full arch replacement: a fixed, implant supported set of teeth replaces an entire upper or lower arch.
  • Crowns and bridges: custom restorations repair damaged teeth or fill gaps between healthy ones.
  • Dentures: full or partial dentures restore your bite, and mini implants can help stabilize them.
  • Gum disease treatment: healthy gums give every restoration a stable foundation.

Your plan is built around your mouth, your health history, and your goals, so no two reconstructions look exactly alike.

Dr. Kevin Cabugao

DDS, MBA

Because of my commitment to excellence some have labeled me as somewhat of a perfectionist… Although true to a certain extent, I disagree. Without the fear of being wrong, I sincerely care about everything I do and try my best to do it well.”
Born in Hawaii and raised in Vallejo, Kevin Cabugao received his BS in Genetics at the University of California at Davis and worked in biotechnology before refocusing his energies towards graduate school. While Kevin found his work in the pharmaceutical industry rewarding, he felt unsatisfied with his career and sought an education that would best complement his enthusiasm for helping others with his understanding of the sciences. With this intention, he received his MBA from California State University East Bay and DDS from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. Currently, he is an active member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association as a part of the Board of Component Relations and has served as the former President of the Napa/Solano Dental Society.
When away from the office, Kevin enjoys listening to music, snowboarding and honing his martial arts as a 4th degree Kajukenbo black belt with over 30 years of experience!

Dr. Paul Belusko, DDS — dentist at Encore Dentist in Napa, American Canyon, and Castro Valley, CA

Dr. Paul Belusko

DDS

Born and raised in Oregon, Dr. Paul Belusko earned his degree in Biochemistry from Portland State where it was while working in Biotechnology that he realized his calling to serve others was best expressed as a compassionate care provider within dentistry. Soon after, Dr. Belusko attended dental school at Columbia University and graduated with high honors.

During this time, he had the privilege of volunteering as a student dentist serving throughout the rural parts of Jamaica and joined a hospital residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine that partnered with the nearby Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital in the Bronx. As a resident he worked on complex dental cases and added advanced dental implant techniques to his clinical practice. With a surgical skill set greater than most general dentists, Dr. Paul has also earned his fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

After residency, Dr. Belusko returned to the West Coast to serve our veterans at the Washington State VA for several years. Soon after, he travelled south with his wife back to her home state of California, settling down in Napa to be closer to her family and to enjoy the natural beauty of our region as an avid skier, hiker and cyclist. With his wife, keeping his family and community first, Dr. Paul has two children and enjoys mentoring to the local youth as a Napa County 4-H leader in archery and at 4-H camp.

Signs You May Be a Candidate for Reconstruction

Many patients who come to us from Sonoma have spent years managing one problem after another. Common reasons to consider reconstruction include multiple missing teeth, teeth worn down from grinding or age, older crowns and bridges reaching the end of their lifespan, and dentures that slip or make eating uncomfortable.

Gum disease is another frequent factor, because it can loosen teeth and weaken the bone holding them in place. When several of these issues overlap, treating each tooth separately often costs more over time than addressing the whole mouth at once. An earlier evaluation also tends to leave more options on the table, especially when implants are part of the conversation.

How We Plan Your Treatment in Napa

A reconstruction succeeds or fails on the quality of its plan. We move through each stage deliberately, so you always know where you are and what comes next.

Your Consultation and Exam

Your first visit is unhurried. We review your health history, talk through your goals, complete a thorough exam, and take the digital images needed to see what is happening below the surface. If you are new to our office, you can review what new patients can expect before you arrive.

A Clear Written Plan

We explain every option, including the tradeoffs between fixed and removable solutions, and put the cost in writing before you commit to anything. Nothing moves forward until you understand the plan and feel comfortable with it.

Phased Treatment and Healing

Reconstruction usually happens in phases. Implants need several months to heal and bond with the surrounding bone, and we map out your timeline at your consultation so you can plan each trip from Sonoma around the steps ahead.

Why Sonoma Patients Choose Encore Dental at Napa

Rebuilding a smile is a significant investment, and you deserve a team with real restorative experience. Keeping your care under one roof means fewer handoffs and one team following your case from start to finish.

Getting here from Sonoma means a drive of about 15 miles east through Carneros, which most patients cover in 20 to 30 minutes. Because reconstruction is planned in phases, we schedule your visits ahead of time so each trip counts.

Cost, Insurance, and Financing

The cost of a reconstruction depends on how many teeth are involved, which treatments your plan includes, and whether implants are part of it. You get a written cost estimate up front, before anything starts.

Our Napa office is an out-of-network practice with one in-network carrier, Cigna, so recommendations are based on your oral health rather than a plan’s limits. PPO patients can often still put their benefits toward treatment, and we help with the claim paperwork. Learn more about out-of-network dental care, and explore our dental financing options, including low- or no-interest plans for those who qualify, for spreading the cost of a larger treatment plan.

Full Mouth Reconstruction Questions

How long does full mouth reconstruction take?

It depends on your plan. Crowns, bridges, and dentures can often be completed in a few weeks, while implants need several months to heal before the final teeth are placed. We map out your timeline at your consultation.

Implant surgery is done with the area completely numb, so most people feel pressure rather than pain during placement. Some tenderness for a few days afterward is normal, and over-the-counter pain relief usually handles it.

Both can restore a full arch. Dentures are removable and usually cost less up front, while a fixed, implant supported arch stays in place and feels closer to natural teeth. We walk through the tradeoffs with you before you decide.

Many PPO plans pay toward part of restorative treatment such as crowns, bridges, or dentures. Our Napa office takes Cigna as an in-network plan. For other carriers we are out-of-network, and we help you file claims for any eligible portion.

About 15 miles. Most Sonoma patients reach us in 20 to 30 minutes by heading east through Carneros on Highway 12 and Highway 121, though wine country weekend traffic can add time.
