Dental Bonding in Napa, CA
Quick, conservative repairs for chips, gaps, and worn edges.
A small chip on a front tooth can feel enormous every time you catch your reflection. Dental bonding repairs that kind of flaw in a single visit, often without numbing or removing healthy enamel.
Encore Dentist offers tooth colored bonding at our Napa office for patients who want an affordable, conservative way to fix minor imperfections. Bonding is one of the simplest treatments in our cosmetic dentistry in Napa, and it is often a smart first step before considering more extensive work.
What Dental Bonding Can Fix
Bonding uses a tooth colored composite resin that is shaped by hand and hardened with a special light. It works well for small cosmetic concerns, and because little or no enamel is removed, bonding is easy to update later.
- Chipped teeth: minor breaks along the biting edge are filled and smoothed to match.
- Small gaps: resin added to the sides of teeth can close narrow spaces.
- Worn edges: short or uneven teeth can be lengthened slightly for a more balanced smile.
- Discolored spots: isolated stains or white spots can be covered with a matching shade.
For larger changes in color or shape, porcelain veneers in Napa may be the more durable choice.
Dr. Kevin Cabugao
Because of my commitment to excellence some have labeled me as somewhat of a perfectionist… Although true to a certain extent, I disagree. Without the fear of being wrong, I sincerely care about everything I do and try my best to do it well.”
Born in Hawaii and raised in Vallejo, Kevin Cabugao received his BS in Genetics at the University of California at Davis and worked in biotechnology before refocusing his energies towards graduate school. While Kevin found his work in the pharmaceutical industry rewarding, he felt unsatisfied with his career and sought an education that would best complement his enthusiasm for helping others with his understanding of the sciences. With this intention, he received his MBA from California State University East Bay and DDS from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. Currently, he is an active member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association as a part of the Board of Component Relations and has served as the former President of the Napa/Solano Dental Society.
When away from the office, Kevin enjoys listening to music, snowboarding and honing his martial arts as a 4th degree Kajukenbo black belt with over 30 years of experience!
Dr. Paul Belusko
Born and raised in Oregon, Dr. Paul Belusko earned his degree in Biochemistry from Portland State where it was while working in Biotechnology that he realized his calling to serve others was best expressed as a compassionate care provider within dentistry. Soon after, Dr. Belusko attended dental school at Columbia University and graduated with high honors.
During this time, he had the privilege of volunteering as a student dentist serving throughout the rural parts of Jamaica and joined a hospital residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine that partnered with the nearby Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital in the Bronx. As a resident he worked on complex dental cases and added advanced dental implant techniques to his clinical practice. With a surgical skill set greater than most general dentists, Dr. Paul has also earned his fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
After residency, Dr. Belusko returned to the West Coast to serve our veterans at the Washington State VA for several years. Soon after, he travelled south with his wife back to her home state of California, settling down in Napa to be closer to her family and to enjoy the natural beauty of our region as an avid skier, hiker and cyclist. With his wife, keeping his family and community first, Dr. Paul has two children and enjoys mentoring to the local youth as a Napa County 4-H leader in archery and at 4-H camp.
The Bonding Process Step by Step
Most bonding appointments take about 30 to 60 minutes per tooth. We select a resin shade that blends with your natural enamel, lightly roughen the surface, and apply a conditioning liquid so the material adheres. If a tooth needs more shaping, a small amount of numbing may be used.
Next, we sculpt the resin into shape, harden it with a curing light, and polish it to a natural shine. There is no lab step, so your repair is finished before you leave. You can usually eat and smile normally right away.
How Long Dental Bonding Lasts
Bonding is durable for its size and cost, though it is not as strong as porcelain. A 2023 scoping review in Dentistry Journal described composite restorations on front teeth as a viable short to medium-term option, with survival in individual studies ranging from 85 to 98.4 percent. In everyday terms, front-tooth bonding often lasts several years before it needs a touch-up.
You can help your bonding last by avoiding biting nails, pens, or ice and by limiting heavy staining drinks such as red wine and coffee. Regular cleanings let us polish the resin and catch small wear early. The edges of front teeth take the most force, so try not to use them as tools.
Bonding Compared With Veneers and Whitening
Bonding costs less than veneers and usually needs no enamel removal, but resin can stain and chip more easily over time. Veneers resist stains better and often last longer, which makes them a better fit for broader changes. Bonding is also easier to adjust, so it can be a low-commitment way to try a new tooth shape.
If you plan to whiten, it is best to do that first. Resin does not lighten with whitening gel, so we match your bonding to your new shade after teeth whitening in Napa. When several concerns are involved, a Napa smile makeover can bring each treatment into one plan.
Cost and Insurance for Dental Bonding
Bonding is among the most affordable cosmetic treatments, and a single bonded tooth typically costs far less than a porcelain veneer. When it repairs a broken tooth, part of the cost may be eligible for insurance reimbursement, while purely cosmetic bonding is usually not covered.
We provide a clear estimate before treatment and help you file PPO claims as an out-of-network dental practice with one in-network carrier, Cigna. For combined treatment plans, financing options are available, and your estimate shows the cost for each tooth so you can prioritize.

Dental Bonding Questions
Does dental bonding hurt?
Bonding is usually painless. Most cases need no numbing because only the surface of the tooth is treated, and you can usually go back to work right after your visit.
How long does bonding last?
Bonding often lasts several years with good care. Touch-ups or replacement may be needed as the resin wears or picks up stains.
Can bonding be whitened?
No. Composite resin does not respond to whitening gel, so whiten your natural teeth first and match the bonding afterward. A professional polish can remove light surface stains from existing bonding.
Is bonding a good option for front teeth?
Yes, for small chips, gaps, and spots. For larger changes, veneers may offer better strength and stain resistance, and bonding can serve as a first step while you decide.
Can bonding be repaired if it chips?
Usually, yes. We can often add new resin to the existing bonding in a short visit. Larger repairs may need a slightly longer appointment.
