Tooth-Colored Fillings in Napa, CA
Natural looking fillings that blend right in.
A small cavity rarely hurts at first, which is why many people do not know they have one until a checkup. Treated early, a cavity can usually be fixed with a simple filling that keeps the rest of the tooth strong.
Our Napa office uses tooth colored composite fillings that match the shade of your natural teeth. They repair decay without the dark look of metal, so your smile stays natural even when you laugh with your mouth open.
What Tooth-Colored Fillings Can Repair
A composite filling is made of a tooth colored resin that bonds directly to your tooth. It can be used on front and back teeth to fix:
- Cavities: small to medium areas of decay.
- Chips: small broken edges on a tooth.
- Worn spots: areas near the gumline worn down by brushing or grinding.
- Old metal fillings: silver fillings that are cracked or leaking and need replacing.
When decay or a crack is too large for a filling to hold, a dental crown may be needed to protect the tooth.
Dr. Kevin Cabugao
Because of my commitment to excellence some have labeled me as somewhat of a perfectionist… Although true to a certain extent, I disagree. Without the fear of being wrong, I sincerely care about everything I do and try my best to do it well.”
Born in Hawaii and raised in Vallejo, Kevin Cabugao received his BS in Genetics at the University of California at Davis and worked in biotechnology before refocusing his energies towards graduate school. While Kevin found his work in the pharmaceutical industry rewarding, he felt unsatisfied with his career and sought an education that would best complement his enthusiasm for helping others with his understanding of the sciences. With this intention, he received his MBA from California State University East Bay and DDS from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. Currently, he is an active member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association as a part of the Board of Component Relations and has served as the former President of the Napa/Solano Dental Society.
When away from the office, Kevin enjoys listening to music, snowboarding and honing his martial arts as a 4th degree Kajukenbo black belt with over 30 years of experience!
Dr. Paul Belusko
Born and raised in Oregon, Dr. Paul Belusko earned his degree in Biochemistry from Portland State where it was while working in Biotechnology that he realized his calling to serve others was best expressed as a compassionate care provider within dentistry. Soon after, Dr. Belusko attended dental school at Columbia University and graduated with high honors.
During this time, he had the privilege of volunteering as a student dentist serving throughout the rural parts of Jamaica and joined a hospital residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine that partnered with the nearby Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital in the Bronx. As a resident he worked on complex dental cases and added advanced dental implant techniques to his clinical practice. With a surgical skill set greater than most general dentists, Dr. Paul has also earned his fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
After residency, Dr. Belusko returned to the West Coast to serve our veterans at the Washington State VA for several years. Soon after, he travelled south with his wife back to her home state of California, settling down in Napa to be closer to her family and to enjoy the natural beauty of our region as an avid skier, hiker and cyclist. With his wife, keeping his family and community first, Dr. Paul has two children and enjoys mentoring to the local youth as a Napa County 4-H leader in archery and at 4-H camp.
Why Patients Choose Composite Over Metal
Composite bonds to the tooth, so your dentist can often remove less healthy tooth structure than a metal filling would need. The material is shaded to match your enamel, which makes it a good fit for teeth that show when you smile.
Like natural teeth, composite fillings can wear or stain over many years. Brushing, flossing, regular cleanings, and limiting sugary snacks help them last and lower your risk of new cavities.
The Filling Process at Our Napa Office
Most fillings take a single visit. We numb the area so you stay comfortable, then remove the decay and clean the tooth. The composite is placed in thin layers, and each layer is hardened with a special light.
Once the filling is in, we shape and polish it so it feels smooth and fits your bite. You can usually eat as soon as the numbness wears off. Your regular checkups let us spot new problems early, while they are still small.
Fillings Compared With Other Options
Fillings are the most conservative way to repair a cavity. For a chip or small gap on a front tooth, dental bonding in Napa uses a similar material to reshape the tooth. Larger damage may need a crown, which covers the entire tooth.
The best way to avoid bigger treatment is to catch decay early. Our dentists explain your options honestly and recommend the simplest repair that will hold up.
Cost of Fillings and Payment Options
Filling cost depends on the size and location of the cavity and how many surfaces of the tooth are involved. Many PPO plans cover fillings, and our team can submit claims for any portion your plan allows.
You receive a clear estimate before treatment begins. Dental financing is available if you need several teeth treated.

Tooth-Colored Filling Questions
Does getting a filling hurt?
Most patients feel little to no discomfort because the area is numbed first. Mild sensitivity for a few days afterward is normal.
How long do tooth-colored fillings last?
Many last for years with good care. Size, location, and habits like grinding all affect how long a filling holds up.
Can I replace my old silver fillings?
Yes, if they are cracked, leaking, or worn. We check each one and let you know whether replacement makes sense.
Can I eat right after a filling?
Composite fillings are hardened before you leave, so you can eat once the numbness wears off. Waiting helps you avoid biting your cheek.
Will my filling match my tooth?
Yes. We choose a composite shade that blends with your natural tooth, so the filling is hard to see.
