Dental Implants in Napa, CA

Permanent tooth replacement planned around your whole bite.

A missing tooth changes more than your smile. Chewing shifts to one side, neighboring teeth can drift into the gap, and the jawbone under the space slowly shrinks. Replacing that tooth well protects the rest of your mouth.

Implants are a central focus of our Napa office. Dr. Paul Belusko completed a hospital residency where he added advanced implant techniques to his practice, and he holds a fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Each case draws on our office’s restorative and prosthodontic heritage, so the tooth on top is planned as carefully as the implant below.

Implant Options at Our Napa Office

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone. Once it heals, it supports a crown, bridge, or denture that looks and works much like natural teeth. Our Napa team offers four main approaches:

  • Single tooth replacement: one implant and one crown for a single missing tooth, with no need to file down the teeth on either side.
  • Multiple tooth replacement: implant supported bridges that replace several teeth in a row.
  • Full arch replacement: a fixed set of teeth anchored to implants for patients missing most or all teeth in one jaw.
  • Mini dental implants: narrower implants that can help stabilize a loose denture.

If you have lost many teeth or have worn, failing teeth throughout your mouth, implants may be one part of a full mouth reconstruction.

Dr. Kevin Cabugao

DDS, MBA

Because of my commitment to excellence some have labeled me as somewhat of a perfectionist… Although true to a certain extent, I disagree. Without the fear of being wrong, I sincerely care about everything I do and try my best to do it well.”
Born in Hawaii and raised in Vallejo, Kevin Cabugao received his BS in Genetics at the University of California at Davis and worked in biotechnology before refocusing his energies towards graduate school. While Kevin found his work in the pharmaceutical industry rewarding, he felt unsatisfied with his career and sought an education that would best complement his enthusiasm for helping others with his understanding of the sciences. With this intention, he received his MBA from California State University East Bay and DDS from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. Currently, he is an active member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association as a part of the Board of Component Relations and has served as the former President of the Napa/Solano Dental Society.
When away from the office, Kevin enjoys listening to music, snowboarding and honing his martial arts as a 4th degree Kajukenbo black belt with over 30 years of experience!

Dr. Paul Belusko, DDS — dentist at Encore Dentist in Napa, American Canyon, and Castro Valley, CA

Dr. Paul Belusko

DDS

Born and raised in Oregon, Dr. Paul Belusko earned his degree in Biochemistry from Portland State where it was while working in Biotechnology that he realized his calling to serve others was best expressed as a compassionate care provider within dentistry. Soon after, Dr. Belusko attended dental school at Columbia University and graduated with high honors.

During this time, he had the privilege of volunteering as a student dentist serving throughout the rural parts of Jamaica and joined a hospital residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine that partnered with the nearby Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital in the Bronx. As a resident he worked on complex dental cases and added advanced dental implant techniques to his clinical practice. With a surgical skill set greater than most general dentists, Dr. Paul has also earned his fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

After residency, Dr. Belusko returned to the West Coast to serve our veterans at the Washington State VA for several years. Soon after, he travelled south with his wife back to her home state of California, settling down in Napa to be closer to her family and to enjoy the natural beauty of our region as an avid skier, hiker and cyclist. With his wife, keeping his family and community first, Dr. Paul has two children and enjoys mentoring to the local youth as a Napa County 4-H leader in archery and at 4-H camp.

Why Implants Protect Your Long Term Health

Your jawbone stays strong when tooth roots stimulate it during chewing. When a root is lost, the bone in that area begins to shrink, which can change the shape of your face over time. An implant replaces the root, so it helps preserve the bone around it.

Implants also stand on their own. A traditional bridge relies on the teeth beside the gap for support, while an implant leaves those teeth untouched. With good brushing, flossing, and regular cleanings, implants can last for many years.

The Implant Process at Our Napa Office

Your consultation includes an exam, digital images, and a review of your health history. We check the amount and quality of bone where the tooth is missing and talk through your options and timeline. If bone or gum health needs attention first, we include that in the plan.

On placement day, the area is fully numbed and the implant is set into the bone. Healing usually takes a few months while the bone bonds to the implant. After that, we attach a custom crown, bridge, or denture and check your bite so everything fits comfortably. We map out each phase before treatment begins, so you always know what comes next.

Implants Compared With Other Options

Implants are not the only way to replace teeth. A dental bridge in Napa is fixed in place and is often quicker to complete, though it uses the neighboring teeth for support. Dentures are removable and usually the most affordable option for replacing a full or partial arch.

Many patients combine approaches, such as a denture held in place by a few implants. Our dentists explain the trade-offs honestly and recommend what fits your health, your goals, and your budget.

Cost of Dental Implants and Payment Options

Implant cost depends on how many teeth are replaced, the type of restoration on top, and whether bone grafting or other care is needed first. Many PPO plans cover part of the crown or bridge, and some cover part of the implant itself. Our team can submit claims for any portion your plan allows.

You receive a clear written estimate before treatment begins. Dental financing can spread the cost into monthly payments, and treatment can often be phased over time.

Does getting a dental implant hurt?

Most patients say it is more comfortable than they expected. The area is fully numbed, and any soreness afterward is usually mild and short lived.

Implants are placed in phases over several months so the bone can heal around the post. We give you a full timeline at your consultation.

Most healthy adults with enough jawbone are candidates. Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, and gum disease can affect healing, so we review your health and bone before recommending treatment.
