Full Mouth Reconstruction in Napa, CA

A complete plan to rebuild a worn or failing bite.

Some patients have more than one problem tooth. Years of grinding, old dental work that is breaking down, missing teeth, and a bite that no longer feels right can all add up until eating and smiling become hard. Fixing one tooth at a time rarely solves it.

Full mouth reconstruction brings every needed treatment into one coordinated plan. It is the kind of complex restorative work our Napa office is built around. With a strong prosthodontic heritage, our team plans how your teeth, gums, jaw, and bite work together before any treatment begins.

Who Needs Full Mouth Reconstruction

Full mouth reconstruction is not one procedure. It is a personal plan that may restore most or all of your teeth. It can help if you have:

  • Severe wear: teeth flattened or shortened by grinding, clenching, or acid erosion.
  • Many failing restorations: old fillings, crowns, or bridges that are cracking or leaking.
  • Several missing teeth: gaps that have let other teeth drift and changed your bite.
  • Bite problems: a bite that has collapsed or shifted, causing discomfort when chewing.

If your concerns are mainly cosmetic, such as color and shape, a smile makeover in Napa may be the better fit. Your dentist will help you understand the difference.

Dr. Kevin Cabugao, DDS, MBA — dentist at Encore Dentist in Napa, American Canyon, and Castro Valley, CA

Dr. Kevin Cabugao

DDS, MBA

Because of my commitment to excellence some have labeled me as somewhat of a perfectionist… Although true to a certain extent, I disagree. Without the fear of being wrong, I sincerely care about everything I do and try my best to do it well.”
Born in Hawaii and raised in Vallejo, Kevin Cabugao received his BS in Genetics at the University of California at Davis and worked in biotechnology before refocusing his energies towards graduate school. While Kevin found his work in the pharmaceutical industry rewarding, he felt unsatisfied with his career and sought an education that would best complement his enthusiasm for helping others with his understanding of the sciences. With this intention, he received his MBA from California State University East Bay and DDS from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. Currently, he is an active member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association as a part of the Board of Component Relations and has served as the former President of the Napa/Solano Dental Society.
When away from the office, Kevin enjoys listening to music, snowboarding and honing his martial arts as a 4th degree Kajukenbo black belt with over 30 years of experience!

Dr. Paul Belusko, DDS — dentist at Encore Dentist in Napa, American Canyon, and Castro Valley, CA

Dr. Paul Belusko

DDS

Born and raised in Oregon, Dr. Paul Belusko earned his degree in Biochemistry from Portland State where it was while working in Biotechnology that he realized his calling to serve others was best expressed as a compassionate care provider within dentistry. Soon after, Dr. Belusko attended dental school at Columbia University and graduated with high honors.

During this time, he had the privilege of volunteering as a student dentist serving throughout the rural parts of Jamaica and joined a hospital residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine that partnered with the nearby Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital in the Bronx. As a resident he worked on complex dental cases and added advanced dental implant techniques to his clinical practice. With a surgical skill set greater than most general dentists, Dr. Paul has also earned his fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

After residency, Dr. Belusko returned to the West Coast to serve our veterans at the Washington State VA for several years. Soon after, he travelled south with his wife back to her home state of California, settling down in Napa to be closer to her family and to enjoy the natural beauty of our region as an avid skier, hiker and cyclist. With his wife, keeping his family and community first, Dr. Paul has two children and enjoys mentoring to the local youth as a Napa County 4-H leader in archery and at 4-H camp.

Treatments That May Be Part of Your Plan

Every plan is different, but most combine several of the restorative services our Napa office provides. Common pieces include dental crowns to rebuild worn teeth, dental implants or bridges to replace missing teeth, and dentures or implant supported arches when many teeth are lost.

Gum disease treatment, extractions, and fillings may come first to build a healthy foundation. Cosmetic steps such as whitening or veneers can be added so the final result looks as good as it works.

How We Plan Your Reconstruction in Napa

Planning starts with a thorough exam, digital images, and a careful look at how your jaw and bite move. We also check your gums and any signs of grinding. Then we talk through your goals, whether that is chewing comfortably, replacing missing teeth, or a smile that looks younger.

From there, we build a step by step plan with a written estimate for each phase. Treatment is usually done in stages over several months, so your mouth can heal between steps and costs can be spread out. We explain each phase before it begins, so you always know what comes next.

Reconstruction Compared With Treating One Tooth at a Time

Fixing teeth one at a time can feel simpler, but when the bite itself is off, new crowns or fillings can wear down or break again. A full plan looks at the whole mouth, so each restoration supports the others and your bite is balanced.

Not every patient needs a full reconstruction. Sometimes a few crowns or a bridge will solve the problem. Our dentists recommend the most conservative plan that will last and explain the trade-offs honestly.

Cost of Full Mouth Reconstruction and Payment Options

The cost depends on how many teeth are treated and which treatments your plan includes. Because much of the work restores function, many PPO plans cover part of it, often up to an annual maximum. Phasing treatment across benefit years can help you make the most of your coverage, and our team can submit claims for you.

You receive a written estimate for every phase before treatment begins. Dental financing can spread the cost into monthly payments.

Full Mouth Reconstruction Questions

How long does full mouth reconstruction take?

It depends on your plan. Many cases are completed in stages over several months, and we give you a timeline before treatment starts.

Each procedure is done with the area numbed, and treatment is spread out to keep visits manageable. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable it is.

A reconstruction focuses on restoring health and function across the mouth. A smile makeover focuses mainly on appearance. Many plans include some of both.

Many PPO plans cover part of restorative treatment. We help you file claims and can phase treatment to work with your annual maximum.

Often, yes. We try to save healthy natural teeth whenever possible and build the plan around them.
